About the Club [ Main ] [ Facilities ] [ Coaches ] [ Training Squads ] [ Honour Boards ] [ Club Records ] [ Multi Disability Swimming ] Multi Disability Swimming Wyndham City Swimming Club is committed to providing a quality swimming program to people with all abilities. We offer a program that is suitable to both able bodied swimmers and swimmers with disabilities. Three of our coaches have disability qualification, and Samantha also does work for Wheelchair Sports Victoria, therefore gaining a knowledge of swimmers with many varying types of disabilities. Our swimmers with disabilities have had considerable success over the last 10 years. We have had swimmers placed on both the 2004 and 2008 Paralympic teams, with both of them competing in the finals. In this regard we are one of the most successful swimming clubs in Victoria, and certainly the Western Suburbs, for swimmers with disabilities. Currently we have several swimmers with disabilities involved in our programs, aiming to compete at state and eventually national levels. Our view is an inclusive one, that is, that swimmers with disabilities should be integrated into our program, and part of our team, rather than being involved in a totally separate program. |
