Club Sunday [ Main ] [ Club Sunday Results ] [ Club Trophy Winners ] Club Sunday Club Sunday is run over 16 weeks during the swimming calendar year. The season is broken into Championships Races, Handicap Races and Knockout Events. Championship races are those that are held in Age Groups (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 & Open). Medals are presented for each Championship race. Handicap races are a little different. On your first swim at Club Sunday you will be graded according to your 50m Freestyle time (A Grade, A Reserve, B Grade, C Grade, D Grade). You will then be given a handicap and will swim off a handicap for each race - as you improve your handicap alters. You are competing against your own times each time you race. Knockout events add a bit of variety to the Club Sunday format, they allow every swimmer from D Grade to A Grade to make the final. Run as a handicap race the top three swimmers out of each heat go through to the next round, until there are only six swimmers left for the final. Each swimmer who makes the final is presented with a trophy. Eligibility for age groupings for the entire season is determined by the swimmers age as at Week 1. You stay in the one age group for the entire 16 week season. To be eligible to win any club trophy at our Presentation Function, a swimmer must compete in at least half of the Club Sunday mornings programmed for the season. New swimmers will need to swim no less than half the programmed weeks available at the time of joining. You must also be a registered swimmer with the club to be eligible to win trophies & medals duirng the 16 weeks. All swimmers must pay the pool entry fee on Club Sunday mornings. Club Records: Are only achievable in Championship events, Distance events (200m, 400m, 800m & 1500m) and the last event on knockout and handicap days (i.e. 200 Free, 200m IM & 400m Free). |
