Welcome to Wyndham City Swimming Club

In the Beginning
Werribee Swimming Club originally formed in 1961 as the Werribee Amateur Swimming & Lifesaving Club, and continued in its early state until 1967.

As a result of some informal discussions in 1984/85, Werribee Swimming Club was established. A public meeting was called which attracted numerous local identities, including Cr. Ted Dowling (Chairperson), Mr. Peter Gould (Shire Recreational Officer) and Mr. Tom Weir (Outdoor Pool Manager). The first committee of the Werribee Swimming Club was formed at this meeting. The Parker and Weir families were a part of this committee and played a significant role in the formation and administration of the Club. Fred and Ilma Weir are in fact life members of the Club.

The Club's first season attracted 75 members. This was no mean feat considering the pool was COLD!! After a successful first season, the Club affiliated with Swimming Victoria in July 1985. Our inaugural carnival was held in December 1988.
Werribee Swimming Club continued to operate from the Outdoor Pool at Chirnside Park, attracting more members, and achieving some great results on the way.

In 2000 after a lot of lobbying by the coach of the time, Mr. Dennis McIntosh as well as a very dedicated committee, Werribee Swimming Club moved to the newly constructed Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre. It's here that the Club continues to call home.

And Now
Wyndham City Swimming Club is now a Club with approximately 150 registered members as well as 50 casual swimmers. This figure includes 120 registered swimmers with the majority in National, State and Junior Development Squads. We are constantly increasing our numbers with new members joining and competing each year. We have had many successes over the years and are extremely proud of all that we have achieved.

We aim to capitalise on the strengths of the Club, by building on team spirit and the pride we have in our Club. Through hard work and the commitment of our swimmers, coaches, committee and parents this will be a reality.
