Victorian Age Short Course Swimming Championships
Wow! What a weekend
I would like to congratulate everyone for an outstanding effort over the course of the Championship. It’s fair to say that we approached this championship from a somewhat unknown position having our training regime so dramatically altered with the closure of the event centre, so it gives great pleasure, and with a great sense of pride, to report to everyone that this short course Championship was an outstanding success for our club!
Multiple medals, multiple finals and finalists, and an overall 84% PB rate throughout the meet is a just and fitting reward for everyone involved in our club! It is a true reflection of the commitment and effort shown by everyone from the athletes, coaches, committee and parents that we will not be bowed by perceived adversity, and in fact we will continue flourish.
To the Athletes who competed over the course of the championship, I say Fantastic!! You have done yourselves, your families and our club proud, not only in the way you competed, but in the way you conducted yourselves throughout the meet. The support and encouragement you gave your team mates is second to none, we surely are the envy of a lot swimming clubs in this state.
To our fantastic family support group, I say a huge thank you! Thank you for supporting your athletes in their swimming endeavors, and thank you for the support and encouragement given to all other athletes in our team. I would also like to commend you all for the respect, understanding and ongoing support for myself and all of my coaching colleagues. Swimming is truly a triad of athlete, coach and parent/family, without commitment, support and respect from any one side of this triad, the pyramid collapses.
To my fellow coaches, this championship is just reward for your efforts, and a true vindication of the worthiness of our program, be justifiably proud!!
